Carol Ann Morris
fly fishing and nature artist

After months of slow, methodical research, photo-taking and asking questions of her sea-run cutthroat experts/consultants, Carol launched her PowerPoint show, “Sea-Run Cutthroat: Phantom of the OP (Olympic Peninsula).” It was a genuine hit at the Lynnwood, Washington fly-fishing expo (of the Furimski The Fly-Fishing Show chain) of 2020—Saturday morning, the 200-seat theater was three-quarters full, and on Sunday it was filled beyond capacity with standing room only. Sunday is normally the slow day of that show, the day when presentation-rooms hold lots of empty seats.
This PowerPoint show is about fishing for sea-run cutthroat trout specifically along the beaches of the Salish Sea, and in the estuaries of Hood Canal and Puget Sound, the great surf-protected inland waterways of Washington State. It covers flies and tackle and finding sea-runs and strategies for catching them, of course. But it also covers the habitat and life-cycle of this magnificent native trout, how tides influence its fishing, and how we can insure its survival.
